Lawton Co. was recently nominated for the Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award, which highlights the accomplishments of private, family-owned businesses based in Wisconsin that plan on passing ownership to the next generation. Now in its fifth generation, The C.A. Lawton Co. has seen its family ownership and management as a source of stability and consistent leadership.

Current CEO, president, and owner-manager Alex Lawton says he works to maintain a culture based on the values of honesty, caring about employees and customers, continual improvement of products and processes, and business success. “Our commitment to our values throughout the generations has provided a basis for our long-term success and our continued contribution to our employees, customers, and the community,” notes Lawton.

One of the cornerstones in the success of The C.A. Lawton Co. has been its ability to evolve its capabilities to meet the changing needs of industry over the past five generations. Today The C.A. Nominees will be judged by an independent panel of business leaders based on several criteria including contribution to industry and the community as well as business performance, innovation, and success in overcoming challenges over the years and through the most recent economic times. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony on May 10, 2012, in Madison. Past winners of the award include Bassett Mechanical, Kaukauna, WI; C.G. Schmidt, Inc., Milwaukee, WI; and J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc., Neenah, WI.
