Scott Arnold Memorial
The Scott Arnold Memorial celebrated its 10th annual outing this past September. Scott Arnold is the late father of Emily Burnside, who is a customer representative at our Minster, OH facility. Scott passed away in 2012 from lung cancer. Emily and her family have spent the last 10 years remembering Scott with an annual golf outing. All the proceeds from each outing are donated to Wilson Hospice and a local family in need. Wilson Hospice was an instrumental part of Scott and his family in the last weeks of his life. The Arnold family has donated over $11,000 to Wilson Hospice over the years and another $11,000 to local families going through hardship.
This year, the Arnold family chose Ken Heath and his family as the local recipient. Ken was battling esophageal cancer during the time of the outing. Ken has since passed away in December but was able to join in the fun and golfed on the outing. With Ken’s big heart, he and his wife Jean chose to use all the funds donated to his family (over $3,000) to create Cancer Care Packs for fellow cancer patients going through chemotherapy treatments. The Arnolds and Heaths teamed up with Upper Valley Medical Center to create a logoed backpack to include useful items to help with care and comfort. Items include a backpack, a blanket, a water bottle, lotion, tissues, hard candy, a pen/pencil, an activity book, and an inspirational book. In December before Ken’s passing, they were able to gather to present Ken with the very first Cancer Care Pack. The Scott Arnold Memorial will continue annually, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to continue providing the Cancer Care Packs honoring both Scott Arnold and Ken Heath.
The 11th annual Scott Arnold Memorial will be held September 16, 2023, at Stillwater Valley Golf Course in Versailles, OH.
