De Pere, WI – After having formally earned ISO 9001:2008 certification in December, The C.A. Lawton Co., the provider of large cast iron components across all capital equipment industries (including HVAC mining, wind, and gas turbines), will be going through their first surveillance audit on June 9th, 2011. The certification confirms that The C.A. Lawton Co.’s internal quality management system complies with ISO 9001:2008 requirements. The overall objective of the surveillance audit is to ensure that The C.A. Lawton Co.’s processes continue to be effective for the company and are being appropriately upheld. Kelly Coles, Director of Operations at The C.A. Lawton Co. added “achieving certification is one of the benefits of building a robust quality management system and helps illustrate our commitment to our customers”.

Established in 1987 by the International Standards Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, the ISO quality management system sets an international standard for quality assurance processes. The ISO 9001:2008 standard is a challenging certification level with rigid auditing, management appraisals, and process enhancements.

To become ISO certified, The C.A. Lawton Co. was required to present established guidelines, documentation, and set procedures for all of the company’s activities ranging from buying raw materials and processing raw materials to hiring new applicants and general office work. The company’s quality management system was then examined to ensure that it conformed to the ISO 9001 standards.

“ISO certification is an important step in our evolution as a value added supplier. It represents to our customers and the marketplace that we possess the operational effectiveness and high end technical capabilities they require for many situations. Internally, it’s both a formalization of and a significant part of our efforts to meet or exceed our customer’s expectations while continually improving our business” said Alex Lawton, President and CEO of The C.A. Lawton Co.

The C.A Lawton Co. began its ISO 9001:2008 certification process in the summer of 2010. After a comprehensive audit, the company achieved certification on December 20, 2010. Surveillance audits will be performed biannually.
