Employees of the C.A. Lawton company volunteered to help the Green Bay non-profit, CP. Lawton employees parked cars to raise money for CP during a home Packers game. (You can volunteer, too! CP is a non-profit organization that assists over 2,200 families a year in the Green Bay area via its four key programs: Adult Day Services, Childcare, Aquatics, and Therapy Services. CP provides individualized and progressive programming to every infant, child, and adult – with and without permanent disabilities. To provide funding for its services, CP conducts several key events that raise close to 20% of its annual budget.

These include an annual golf outing, an auction and its most widely known event – the CP Telethon during the first weekend in March. CP also relies on third-party events run by outside groups to contribute to its success. One of the most visible is Packer Parking, which takes place during all Green Bay Packer home games.

On game days, Valley Plating on Mike McCarthy Way, located about a block and a half from Lambeau Field, is gracious enough to donate its lot for parking, with proceeds benefitting CP. The non-profit asks for volunteers to help with parking, collecting money and directing traffic. In November, five employees of The C.A. Lawton Co. volunteered to help.

We picked a great Sunday to volunteer – for just $20 fans could park their car and get a free cup of chili. We filled the entire parking lot and ended up squeezing in a few more cars, too. The CP employees who assisted us were very grateful for our help, and reminded us of their gratitude throughout the afternoon!

A few weeks later, we invited CP employees to tour our campus in De Pere. We gave a short presentation on Lean manufacturing and gave them a tour of our facilities, including the pattern shop, machine shop and the foundry. We plan to tour CP’s office and facility in the near future.

We enjoy contributing our time and talents to the extended family of our Green Bay area community. We also love showing people what we’re are all about and we’re interested in understanding more about worthwhile local organizations, too.
