American Foundry Society Award

De Pere, WI—The American Foundry Society has selected The C.A. Lawton Co. as a recipient of the prestigious 2014 Applied Research Award for work on energy-use reduction and energy use monitoring. After raw materials and labor, energy is often one of the major cost factors in foundry operations. Energy-use reduction and energy-use monitoring is of increasing importance to reduce the carbon footprint of foundry operations and to comply with a growing list of oversight requirements.

The award goes to the top project whose research and technical developments have been transferred to the metal casting industry and are being actively applied on the factory floor. The AFS Research Award was presented to the industry team of Sensor Synergy, Inc., North Vernon Industry Corporation and The C.A. Lawton Co. as part of the 118th Metal casting Congress in Schaumburg, IL.

The C.A. Lawton Co. is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has well over a century of experience as a leading manufacturer of industrial components. Its integrated business includes patternmaking, casting, and machining capabilities. The C.A. Lawton Co. provides large iron castings and machining to domestic manufacturers in industries such as HVAC, municipal pump and valve, oil and gas, mining, and power generation industries.
